Shinas Technology College, Huawei Sign Program to Sponsor Omani Talents

            Muscat, Jun 29 (ONA) --- Huawei Technical Investments Company and in partnership with Shinas College of Technology have signed an agreement to establish Huawei Technology Academy for Information and Communications to sponsor local Omani talents under the supervision of the company and its management.

 

      The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Ma'amari, Dean of Shinas College of Technology and Robin Chin, CEO of Huawei through a video call.

 

          The launch of this academy will assist the college in its efforts to transform to new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G. The agreement aims to support the college’s technological development efforts for the community and to develop student’s skills in the fields of emerging technologies. It also aims to grow student’s innovation and talent to participate in international competitions.

 

           Based on the agreement program, Huawei will provide accredited and specialized training programs for the college staff and students. Huawei will also provide accreditation courses and qualifications needed for academics and technicians using simulation programs applied in Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), to become Huawei Certified Academy (HCAI) trainers. Thus, the college will provide specialized courses in Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA) for college graduates and interested community member

 

            In turn, the CEO of Huawei Robin Shen said, “The cooperation agreement with a leading educational institution such as Shinas College of Technology is one of the steps we take to nurture local talent and support future leaders by working with government agencies and educational institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. We are keen on Huawei to develop the system Ecological Information and Communication Technology in the Sultanate to provide the Omani youth with the necessary skills in this field and to support the goals of the national plans and strategies that seek to build a sustainable digital knowledge-based economy."

 

 “The Huawei Academy for Information and Communication Technology and Accredited Networks will seek to foster innovation in the local talent in the field of technology, because of its importance to enable the information and communications technology sector in the Sultanate, and to overcome the current challenges and meet the future requirements of different sectors," Chen added.

 

            Shinas College of Technology is proud to have represented the Sultanate in the Huawei Middle East competition for three consecutive years after its students consistently achieved two out of six places to represent the Sultanate in international competitions in the People's Republic of China.
