Muscat, Dec 7 (ONA) – The board of directors of the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA) held its 16th meeting of the year today under the chairmanship of Salim bin Mohammed al-Mahrooqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Board Chairman of NRAA.
During the meeting, the NRAA reviewed the progress of work on a project (codenamed “Wusool”) on the management of electronic records and archives, a key program of the NRAA this year.
The project seeks to set up a standard, comprehensive schema featuring all necessary components of records and archives and documenting their stages till their final setup.
The schema aims to streamline electronic records in line with the National Records’ Management Procedures Directory.
The board also looked into the functioning of the Data Backup Centre that looks after the records of different departments. Based in the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the centre will be the government’s operational cloud space for the management of records.
The electronic records and archives schema will be launched early next year.
The board discussed the proposal to establish the Data Backup Centre of the NRAA outside Muscat Governorate. It also looked into reports of accomplished tasks and future visions to keep pace with developments in the field of records and archives.
The meeting followed up the implementation of past decisions of the board and studied the minutes of the 15th meeting of the board, as well as the 2021 plan of the NRAA, which will be submitted to the Council of Ministers.
