Muscat, 24 May (ONA) --- The National Biological Ethics Committee (NBEC) today discussed preparations for the 10th Intellectual Forum due to be held by the end of 2021.
The panel, which met at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), looked into a proposal to form a sub-committee to endorse research papers from an ethical point of view for researchers whose institutions do not have specialized committees for this purpose.
The NBEC’s second meeting chaired by HH Sayyid Fahd Al Julanda al-Said, SQU Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the NBEC.
The meeting also discussed a proposal to develop an electronic website to cover all activities and documents of the NBEC and to serve as a point of reference for all issues pertaining to biological ethics.
The committee also followed up the progress of work on establishing a Waqf Fund (endowment fund) for the committee with a view to financing future activities.
