Muscat, 20 Jun (ONA) —- Oman News Agency (ONA) will tomorrow release a series of visual narratives in cooperation with the National Museum titled “From Arcades of the National Museum”.
The edition features artefacts, craft industries, manuscripts, historical documents, correspondences, ancient publications, philately, replicas of ships and boats, navigation instruments and ancient weapons.
The series also covers high definition replicas of forts, castles, historical monuments and other antiques related to architecture and farming tools and equipment, as well as all that relates to aflaj, coins and currencies, pottery and earthenware, furniture, applied arts, photographs, fine arts and musical instruments.
The weekly series, to be transmitted every Monday, seeks to depict the cultural and historical dimensions of Omani civilization and enhance the National Museum’s educational and humanitarian mission.
Situated in the heart of Muscat city, the National Museum figures high among cultural tourism edifices of the Sultanate. The museum, which occupies an area of 13,700 square metres, consists of 14 galleries showcasing a large number of exhibits.
The National Museum portrays human heritage in the Arabian Peninsula since the earliest settlement ever known in history dating about two million years ago.
