Amman, 26 Jul (ONA) --- The Jerusalem Studies Centre and Al Zaytoonah University of Jordan will hold in November 2021 a scientific conference themed “Al Quds in Arabic Poetry”.
In a press statement, Dr. Ziad Abu Laban, Director-General of the centre said that the conference aims to highlight the historic, religious and human status of Al Quds (Jerusalem) city, and to respond on narratives which try to deny the Palestinian presence in the city. The conference also underlines the most important sacrifices made in defense of the city, as well as to show the artistic utilization of history in poems, especially those related to the beauty of Al Quds and its deep-rooted civilization.
According to Abu Laban, the conference is part of a cultural endeavour to preserve the memory of Al Quds, and to instill the relationship between the youth with this city, which has been a centre for the documentation of Arabic poetry throughout history and a city that proved, through its artistic beauty, the historic right of its true people.
Moreover, the centre, in collaboration with the university, launched a prize for the top three research papers on inherited traditions in Al Quds. Those papers must be written in Arabic, and researchers must rely on scientific documentation and make sure that references are original, modern and comprehensive. A 2,000 Jordanian Dinar (Approximately RO 1,085) prize is allocated for the winners and the research papers will be published in a book by the centre.
