Pologna, 14 Sep (ONA) —- Represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the Sultanate today took part in the 8th Forum on Religious Values 2021, currently held in Pologna, Italy.

The Omani delegation was headed by Dr. Mohammed Said Al Maamari, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

Al Maamari underscored the attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to common human values, the need for peace, dialogue and coexistence among nations, countries and communities.

Al Maamari pointed out that, over the years of the renaissance, the Sultanate has achieved strong presence in global peace arenas, working diligently to resolve problems and disputes through dialogue and by diplomatic means. Oman is known for its rejection of all forms of extremism, violence and hatred, said Al Maamari.

He added that Oman occupied advanced positions in the scale of peace and security and that the Sultanate has had a clean record in the international extremism and terrorism index. On top of this, Oman took tangible steps to realize advanced positions in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030), said Al Maamri.

He explained that Oman Vision 2040 lays emphasis on human, ethical and religious aspects, which constitute priorities in the concept of citizenship, heritage and national culture.
Oman Vision 2040 advocates the establishment of a globally sound society that is proud of its identity.

Meanwhile, Al Maamari participated in a workshop on youth affairs, held on the sidelines of the forum, which brought together a large number of officials from different countries of the world. The workshop encouraged cooperation, the exchange of views and partnership to promote global dialogue and peace.
