Major Power Cut Disrupts Manchester Airport Flights
Manchester, 23 Jun (ONA) --- Passengers have been told to stay away from Manchester Airport after a "major" power cut disrupted a significant number of flights.
The warning for those travelling through Terminals 1 and 2 comes after the outage hit in the early hours, affecting baggage and security systems.
Large queues have formed inside the airport, which is the UK's largest outside London, and more than 10 outbound flights have been cancelled and inbound flights diverted, with more disruption expected through the day, BBC news reported.
Passengers flying via Terminal 3 should come to the airport as normal, but could face delays, an airport spokesman said.
Flights of those already at the airport would be prioritised as efforts to "work through that backlog" continued, a spokesman added.
The number of journeys the airport's departure board is showing as cancelled is expected to grow until at least mid-afternoon.
