178 Evacuated as Fire Erupts at Logistics Center in S. Korea
Seoul, 13 May (ONA) --- A fire broke out at a logistics center in the city of Icheon, about 50 kilometers southeast of the capital Seoul today, prompting the evacuation of 178 people, officials said.
No casualties have been reported so far, according to the state-run Yonhap News Agency.
Fire authorities dispatched 92 units of equipment and 270 personnel to battle the blaze.
Initially, 110 people were reported to have evacuated the building, but the number was later updated to 178. None of them were injured, officials added.
They also noted that the large size of the facility, along with the presence of lithium batteries and other flammable materials, may prolong the firefighting operation.
In a related context, a fire at a resort construction site in the coastal city of Busan last February 2025 killed six people and injured seven others.
