Implementation and Expansion of Healthcare Facilities in Dhofar Governorate

Salalah, 4 June 4 (ONA) --- Dhofar Governorate is witnessing the implementation of several hospitals and health centers aimed at improving healthcare services for patients and enhancing hospitals' capacities to provide specialized medical care.

Dr. Hani Ahmed Al Qadi, Director General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate, stated that the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital is one of the largest healthcare projects currently under implementation in the governorate, with 60% completion achieved. He noted that the new hospital will include over 700 beds and introduce new specialties such as surgical and diagnostic services, among others.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), he indicated that expansions are underway for existing hospitals, including upgrading Thumrait Health Center to a local hospital by adding inpatient and dialysis units, expanding Taqah Hospital with additional clinics and kidney unit expansion (adding 6 beds for a total of 17 beds), establishing emergency/accident and dialysis units at Mirbat Hospital, creating an emergency/accident unit at Muqshin Hospital and constructing a health center in Mudhi (Thumrait) currently at 25% completion

He confirmed ongoing negotiations to establish additional hospitals and health centers in Dhofar to reduce reliance on Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, noting that Mazyouna Hospital will be fully operational by September.
