Meeting in Salalah Discusses Labour Market Challenges

Salalah, 6 Aug (ONA) — A meeting organized by the Ministry of Labour today at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compo for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah addressed key challenges facing business owners in the Dhofar Governorate.

The event, held as part of the 2025 Labour Forum activities, saw participation from Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and several private sector representatives.

Titled “Strategic Dialogues and Shared Visions with the Private Sector for a Sustainable Labour Market," the meeting explored efforts to develop labour market tools and facilities provided to private enterprises. It also reviewed labour laws and regulatory legislation aimed at enhancing stability and keeping pace with global developments.

Dr. Mahad Said Ba’awin, Minister of Labour, emphasized that the current phase requires accelerating efforts to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities. He highlighted the importance of supporting human resources through employment initiatives implemented by the ministry in partnership with the private sector.

He noted the growing role of the private sector in Dhofar, particularly in tourism, stressing the need to enhance training programs and support entrepreneurial projects linked to artificial intelligence and innovation.

The meeting also discussed mechanisms to streamline procedures for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), ways to leverage available incentives for new business ventures, and topics related to Omanization and improving the local labour market environment.
