Forum Held in Salalah Highlights Role of Youth as Social Change Makers

Salalah, 6 January 2026 (ONA) --- The Directorate General of Social Development in the Governorate of Dhofar today organized a forum titled “Makers of Change”. The forum was held in the Wilayat of Salalah.

Khalid bin Ahmed Tabouk, Director of the Family Development Department at the Directorate General of Social Development in the Governorate of Dhofar, said, "The forum seeks to furnish a nurturing environment and provide favourable opportunities for serving youth at various levels."

Tabouk pointed out that young people constitute the first line of defence for the family and society in facing challenges.

The forum included two sessions. The first dealt with the programmes and services that support the recovery and rehabilitation of drug addicts, both through information provided by the electronic platform “Hayat” (life) and the social guidance programme titled “Takyeef” (adaptation). The session also outlined medical intervention procedures for handling addiction cases.

The second session reviewed some community initiatives and experiences, including an initiative titled “Your Voice Reaches Us” (on serving people with hearing disabilities) and an initiative titled “Our Youth Are Entrepreneurs”.
