Al Dakhiliyah Festival 2023 Kicks off

Muscat, 23 Feb (ONA) --- Al Dakhiliyah Festival 2023 kicked off today, offering a range of activities, heritage and entertainment programmes and tourism experiences.

The festival is organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism.

The opening ceremony of the festival, which runs till 4 March 2023, was held under the patronage of Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

Al Dakhiliyah Festival aims to hold events that contribute to tourism attraction and shedding light on the cultural and historical heritage of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

Going hand in hand with the start of the festival, the Bisya and Salut Visitor Centre was inaugurated in the Wialyat of Bahla. The centre’s opening comes within the framework of preparing archeological sites for tourism movement and to provide necessary information for visitors regarding the history of Bisya and Salut site.

The centre’s gallery is sectioned into three main halls, the first represents the Bronze Age, and the second displays the Iron Age and the Islamic Period, while the third represents the world heritage.

These halls encompass 21 boxes of antiques that entirely include 344 pieces, in addition to 28 portraits.

Further, some tourism experiences offered during the festival include a simulation of daily life in castles, making Omani Halwa, preparing and cooking Omani Shiwa (roasted beef) and pottery.

Moreover, the festival includes several folklore shows, horse and camel shows, in addition to literature and art nights. Further, it includes traditional and artisan souqs, a youth initiatives exhibition, youth discussion panels, entertainment games for children and adults, tourism tours, hiking race, mountain bike racing and other activities.
