Samail Environmental Hackathon Kicks Off

Samail, 20 Jan 2026 (ONA) --- The wilayat of Samail’s first environmental hackathon kicked off today at Samail Industrial City in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. The hackathon, which seeks to support environmental innovation and entrepreneurship, focuses on enhancing youth participation in providing practical solutions to environmental and developmental challenges.

The hackathon, being held as part of the 3rd Samail Economic Forum, saw the presentation of 260 projects and initiatives, of which 12 qualified for the final stage. The competing projects were submitted by young people eager to contribute to developing applicable environmental solutions that generate economic impact for the local community and upgrade the tourist experience in the area.

Activities of the first day of the hackathon included field visits—for the participating teams—to Wadi Samail and the village of Suroor.
