Environment Authority Organizes Forum on Limiting Risks of Chemical Substancesin North A’Sharqiyah
Ibra, 10 Feb 2026 (ONA) --- The Environment Authority’s department in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate today organized an event titled “Institutions Forum for Controlling Risks of Chemical Substances”. The forum saw the participation of specialists in the field of chemical safety and representatives of authorities concerned.
The forum included the presentation of two working papers. The first dealt with the efforts made by the Environment Authority in regulating and supporting the waste recycling sector.
The second working paper outlined the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in achieving sound management of chemicals. It explained that such measures were realized through the promulgation of a national legislation for the management of hazardous chemicals, and the issuance of a safety data card for parties that possess hazardous chemicals and mechanisms for dealing with such substance in a safe manner.
The forum also included a panel discussion about major challenges and opportunities related to the management of chemicals. At the conclusion of the forum, a number of recommendations were made about ways to enhance chemical safety and institutional integration in this respect.
