South A’Sharqiyah Governorate Signs MoUs for Digital Transformation

Muscat, 11 Sep (ONA) --- The Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah today signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in digital transformation and showcased its key smart projects and initiatives. The signing took place during its participation in the COMEX 2025 technology exhibition at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah signed an MoU with the Oman Information Technology Society to organize the first edition of the Smart Governorates Conference in Oman. The MoU was signed by Dr. Yahya Badr Al Ma'awali, Governor of South A’Sharqiyah, and Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, Chairman of the Society's Board of Directors.

Al Ma'awali stated, "The signing of this MOU represents an advanced step toward strengthening institutional cooperation in the field of smart cities, creating practical channels for exchanging expertise, and leveraging digital experiences to serve development goals and enhance the readiness of governorates for future requirements."

In a move to empower youth and enhance their digital readiness, a cooperation program between the Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah and the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology was announced. This program will launch the second edition of the "Makeen" camps.

The Governor of South A’Sharqiyah added, "The 'Makeen' camps reflect a firm conviction that investing in youth is an investment in the future. This initiative is designed to equip them with modern digital skills and refine their abilities, enabling them to contribute effectively to the national economy and keep pace with global transformations."

Additionally, the Governorate signed a cooperation agreement with "Tadweer" company in the field of cybersecurity and a contract to implement the "An'am" application for smart abattoir management.
