National University Holds White Coat Ceremony for 184 Future Doctors

Sohar, 16 Dec 2025 (ONA) --- Represented by the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sohar, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) today held the White Coat Ceremony for its 21st batch of future doctors, a total of 184 medical students.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al Mandhari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Planning and Health Regulation.

Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani, Vice-Chancellor of National University of Science and Technology, affirmed the university’s commitment to establish an advanced educational environment, coupled with strong cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Health and peer government and private institutions.

Al Bimani added that such cooperation and support has contributed to grooming a generation of world-class doctors who are capable of providing the highest levels of healthcare to their community.

For his part, Prof. Mohammed bin Ali Al Shaf’ee, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, said that the annual White Coat Ceremony constitutes a global tradition that symbolizes the start of clinical training. The ceremony, he observed, paves the way for the realization of professional ethical values and introduces the batch to a noble humanitarian mission lying ahead.

Al Shaf’ee added that the White Coat is a symbol of confidence, humility and responsibility. Along with the performance of the Medical Oath, the White Coat incarnates a pledge to adhere to medical ethics when serving patients, the community and humanity at large.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest felicitated a number of public health institutions and doctors in appreciation for their cooperation in clinical training of students of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. Then, he presented the White Coat to the future doctors.
