Family, Child Theatre at Sohar Festival Merges Entertainment, Education, Culture
Sohar, 14 Jan 2026 (ONA) --- The fourth season of the Sohar Festival in the Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate, is witnessing a massive turnout of visitors enjoying the festival's diverse activities. Among the highlights is the Family and Child Theatre, which serves as an educational and entertainment gateway for families and children.
Dr. Waleed Mohammed Al Jabri, Deputy Director of Events and Awareness at North Al Batinah Municipality and Chairman of the Events Committee at the Fourth Sohar Festival, stated: "The Family and Child Theatre, which is part of the festival's activities, features a wide range of events. These include children's competitions, entertainment shows, purposeful educational and theatrical performances, light shows, and fun science demonstrations, in addition to circus acts and short films."

He added that these activities aim to provide a rich and diverse experience for children, allowing them to enjoy shows that combine benefit with entertainment.
Al Jabri pointed out that these events have become a major attraction for children, providing a space that merges recreation and learning. He noted that the festival organizers were keen to ensure these programs are purposefully educational, contributing to the development of children's skills and opening new horizons of knowledge. This approach enables children to explore scientific concepts interactively, making information easier to absorb.
He further mentioned that the theatre hosts interactive competitions designed to employ children's skills, including cultural and artistic contests that challenge their imagination and offer them the opportunity to innovate. This is in addition to appearances by famous cartoon characters beloved by children, which add a touch of happiness and excitement to the atmosphere.

The "Little Storyteller" (Al Hakawati Al Saghir) is also present to take children on a journey through time, strengthening their connection to their culture and history. This segment encourages children to interact with stories of the past and express their thoughts and feelings. Furthermore, Artificial Intelligence has been integrated into the children's theatre activities through the "Cruise" robot and smart screens.
The Family and Child Theatre at the Sohar Festival represents a unique venue that combines utility and enjoyment. It works to enrich the cultural and artistic experience of children, contributing to the development of their personalities and stimulating their creativity and critical thinking.
