Vocational, Technical Education Exhibition in North Al Batinah Inaugurated

Liwa, 9 Feb 2026 (ONA) --- The Vocational and Technical Education Exhibition (VTEX), organized by the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah, was inaugurated today in the Wilayat of Liwa.

Dr. Walid Talib Al Hashmi, Director General of Education in North Al Batinah, emphasized the exhibition's significance and its objectives aimed at disseminating a culture of vocational and technical education across all levels of the educational field. He highlighted its role in raising community awareness regarding the importance of vocational and technical education and its contribution to preparing national competencies capable of participating in sustainable development.

Al Hashmi added that the organizing committee seeks to familiarize students with the vocational and technical specializations and study programs offered in the governorate’s schools as an educational pathway that aligns with student inclinations and future aspirations. The exhibition aims to motivate students to enroll in vocational and technical education through interactive experiences and applied demonstrations that help them discover their professional interests, while highlighting partnerships between educational and training institutions and their role in developing this sector.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Balushi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, discussed the exhibition’s sections and accompanying activities, noting that the event features eight main sections comprising more than 53 interactive and live platforms. These include the introductory section for vocational and technical education, the vocational and technical specializations section, the educational and training institutions section, the "Try Your Profession" section, the virtual reality simulation section, the vocational innovation lab, the future skills section, and the private sector section. The exhibition also showcases 49 teams that qualified for the Vocational and Technical Innovation Hackathon, with final evaluations of these teams taking place over three days with the support of OQ Company.

The event features several seminars and panel discussions, including a seminar on vocational education and economic trends in North Al Batinah Governorate titled "Partnerships for Shaping the Future," and a seminar titled "Vocational and Technical Education: Educational Options and Future Opportunities." Additionally, panel discussions are held regarding business administration and information technology specializations, alongside sessions on engineering and industrial specializations involving students, parents, and specialized institutes.

Accompanying the exhibition are more than 40 applied workshops distributed across four creative laboratories: the Artificial Intelligence Lab, the Ideas Lab, the Innovation Lab, and the Cybersecurity Lab.

These workshops cover topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT), AI robotics, the basics of electrical circuits, mechanical manufacturing engineering, electronic welding basics, 3D engineering manufacturing, manual metal forming, fire control, human resources, measurement tools, engineering maintenance, smartphone application design, machine learning algorithms, internal and external networking basics, electronic sensor systems, health, safety, and environment (HSE), occupational health and safety management, and electronic measurement tools, among other live practical sessions.

The inauguration was held under the auspices of Dr. Said Hamad Al Rubaii, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences.
