Muscat, 26 May (ONA) --- The 16th annual symposium on Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) began today. The event is organized by the Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control.
The opening event was held under the aupisces of Dr. Fatimah Mohammed Al Ajmi, the Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs.
Dr. Mohammed Hamdan Al Rubai’e, Director General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control pointed out in his welcome speech that the directorate has been conducting this event annually in a regular basis to develop knowledge of private sector pharmacists. He added that the symposium aims at keeping pace with scientific updates and the latest pharmaceutical innovation and information; thus contributing to providing a distinct community pharmaceutical care.
Meanwhile, a number of outstanding pharmaceutical establishments were honored, in addition to distinguished pharmacists and assistant pharmacists, distinguished government and private health institutions in adverse drug reactions (ADR) reporting, and keynote speakers.
Al Ajmi toured an exhibition held on the sidelines of the symposium. This exhibition was organized by a number of pharmaceutical institutions and companies that displayed the latest drugs and new pharmaceutical products.
As many as 250 pharmacists and assistant pharmacists working in the private sector across Oman took part in the symposium.
