Oman Participates in 20th Meeting of GCC Civil Aviation Executive Committee
Doha, 17 Sep (ONA) --- Represented by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Sultanate of Oman participated in the 20th meeting of the GCC Civil Aviation Executive Committee held in Doha today.
The meeting discussed the most important civil aviation issues of concern to the GCC and explored ways of consolidating integration among member states in a manner that best serves their common goals.
Key issues discussed at the meeting included the establishment of a “GCC Civil Aviation Authority”, the implementation of a unified programme for assessing the safety of foreign aircraft operating GCC airports, a mechanism for endorsing "the blacklist" and the culture of civil aviation security in the GCC air navigation and aviation sector.
Eng. Naif Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, affirmed the significance of the civil aviation sector as a basic pillar in achieving sustainable and economic growth in GCC states.
Al Abri pointed out that the CAA in Oman is always keen to support all initiatives that would enhance cooperation and achieve integration among GCC states in the field of civil aviation.
