Research, Innovation Lab Concludes

Muscat, 3 Oct (ONA) --- The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation today marked the conclusion of the Research and Innovation Lab termed "Tamkeen". The closing ceremony was held at the Oil and Gas Institute affiliated to the Innovation Complex in Muscat Governorate.

The lab was aimed at upgrading the national system of research and innovation, enhancing research and innovation capabilities and improving the performance of the Sultanate of Oman in the Global Innovation Index.

The closing session was attended by Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit.

The participants considered a set of possible initiatives to promote the national system of research and innovation, based on legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as funding capabilities. They stressed the importance of empowering the national research system and linking it to the national economy and to reports about the performance of the Sultanate of Oman in the Global Innovation Index.
