Omani-Saudi Coordination Council Holds Second Meeting in Al Ula
Al Ula, 12 Dec (ONA) --- The second meeting of the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council was held in Al Ula Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today.
The meeting was co-chaired by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a speech during the meeting, Sayyid Badr stressed that the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council represents a strategic platform that embodies the will of the two countries’ wise leaderships and their vision to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Sayyid Badr added that relations between the two countries saw remarkable progress since the convening of the first session of the Council in Muscat (on 13 November 2023).
He pointed out that the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council contributed to achieving economic integration, expanding inter-trade and joint investments and enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, culture, tourism. The council also strengthened political coordination between the two countries on regional and international issues, he added.
Sayyid Badr explained that “strong cooperation between the two countries goes beyond serving their common interests; it extends to achieving regional stability and prosperity, notably amid the current challenges that require intensive diplomatic and economic coordination.”
The minister congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on winning the bid to host the 25th edition of the FIFA World Cup 2034 and receiving the highest technical rating in the history of the World Cup from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
He stressed that this achievement reflects an ambitious vision to make the tournament a success, thus adding impetus to the kingdom’s record of outstanding regional and international achievements.
For his part, HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud commended the efforts made to strengthen Saudi-Omani relations, which, he said, boast the attention of the leaderships of the two countries. He underscored the two leaderships’ role in consolidating cooperation and enhancing security and stability in the region in a manner that achieves the aspirations of their peoples.
HH Prince Faisal pointed out that the second meeting of the joint coordination council was in pursuance of the first meeting held in the Sultanate of Oman on 13 November 2023. At that meeting, the first version of 55 initiatives for committees emanating from the Council was launched, he explained.
HH Prince Faisal lauded the efforts made to follow up the implementation of those initiatives and the positive outcome of the committees’ meetings, which, he said, were aimed at enhancing cooperation and integration between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two heads of the Council stressed the importance of developing the work of the Council and enhancing its role as an institutional arena for bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was attended by heads and members of the Council’s committees, its Secretariat General and a number of senior officials representing various sectors from the two countries.
The meeting was a step forward in affirming the historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the directives of the two countries’ leaderships.
