Environment Authority: No Abnormal Radiation Detected in Oman
Muscat, 22 Jun (ONA) --- The Environment Authority has affirmed that the environmental situation in the Sultanate of Oman is stable, noting that no signs of elevated radiation levels or any abnormal environmental impacts have been registered so far.
The Environment Authority pointed out that it is closely monitoring recent developments related to the targeting of nuclear sites in the region, following the ongoing escalation and the potential cross-border environmental repercussions.
The Authority added that it operates within an integrated national system, acting in coordination with the authorities concerned to monitor and analyse environmental and radiation data in real-time. This, it explained, included adhering to radiation monitoring protocols and utilizing the early warning system deployed across the Sultanate of Oman's various governorates, in addition to continuous communication with relevant regional and international centres.
The Environment Authority reiterated its mandate to monitor and follow up the situation round the clock, as part of its role in protecting the environment and ensuring the safety of people and natural resources in the Sultanate of Oman.
