Ibri, 21 Jan 2026 (ONA) --- North A’Sharqiyah Governorate continues to make steady progress on the path of government digital transformation, achieving tangible and qualitative advancements throughout 2025. This progress is reflected in a specialized package of digital projects and initiatives, alongside a systematic expansion in service automation. These efforts align with the objectives of the National Program for Government Digital Transformation (Tahawul) and the strategic directions of Oman Vision 2040 toward an integrated digital government that meets community aspirations and supports comprehensive development.

Dr. Badr Saif Al Hatmi, Head of the Digital Transformation Team in North A’Sharqiyah Governorate, explained that the number of transactions completed through the governorate’s digital channels reached 21,555 during the period from January to November 2025. Digitization efforts contributed to converting 14 external services and 11 internal services into an automated digital system, thereby enhancing institutional efficiency, raising the quality of services provided, and establishing a more flexible operating environment responsive to beneficiary needs.

He stated that during 2026, the governorate implemented several digital projects and initiatives, most notably: the preparation of the governorate’s digital strategy and the institutional digital architecture document; the implementation of Virtual Reality (VR) projects for investment marketing and the "Smart Awareness Guide"; and the use of drones to support data analysis and project planning. Additionally, the development of the governorate’s website was completed, including the addition of digital access tools to assist people with disabilities and the elderly in browsing the site and utilizing available services. Digital surveys were also launched to measure beneficiary satisfaction and enhance community participation.

In the field of service empowerment, Al Hatmi pointed out that the network infrastructure has been upgraded according to the best standards and specifications. Furthermore, the "Digital Transformation Ambassadors" channel was launched on WhatsApp to raise community awareness of digital transformation concepts and programs. The governorate also launched the "Document Management and Digital Transformation Award" to promote the use of technical systems and conducted workshops for the offices of Walis and municipalities regarding open data and the mechanisms for its collection and utilization.
