Istanbul, 25 Oct (ONA) --- The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources took part in the preparatory meeting of senior officials in preparation for the 8th ministerial conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on food security and agricultural development.
During the meeting, held in Turkey, the ministry was represented by Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agriculture.
The meeting covered a range of topics, namely the status of agriculture and food security in OIC member countries. It also discussed the funding of agricultural and food security projects by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and a number of Islamic funds.
Moreover, the meeting touched on the OIC’s programs on developing strategic agricultural products. It also discussed establishing a food security reserve for the organization.
