Muscat, 25 Oct (ONA) --- Oman's total electricity production increased by 7.6% by the end of August 2021 to reach 28,281.2 GW per hour, compared to the same period in 2020, when the total production was 26,283.9 GW per hour.
Meanwhile, water production by the end of July 2021 stood at 279,670,000 cubic meters, a rise by 3.1%, compared to the same period in the previous year, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The total electricity production in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and A'Dhahirah reached 17,439.9 GW per hour by the end of August 2021, which is highest rate production among other governorates, comprising a rise by 6.5%, compared to the same period in 2020, which it stood at 16,372.3 GW per hour.
The total electricity production in the governorates of North and South A'Sharqiyah recorded 6,619.7 GW per hour, comprising a rise by 10.8% as at the end of August 2021 compared to 5,975.8 GW per hour last year. Total production of electricity in the Governorate of Dhofar stood at 2,630.5 GW per hour, comprising an increase by 1.6%, compared to 2,589.5 GW per hour in same period of last year.
The total electricity production in the Governorate of Muscat stood at 820.3 GW per hour, comprising a rise by 20.3% as at the end of August 2021 compared to 682.1 GW per hour during the same period last year. The total electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta stood at 475.4 GW per hour, comprising an increase by 36.8%, compared to 347.5 GW per hour.
The total electricity production in the Governorate of Musandam stood at 295.5 GW per hour, comprising an increase by 1.2% as at the end of August 2021 compared to 292.1 GW per hour during the same period last year.
The total electricity production in the Governorate of A'Dhakiliyah remained unchanged with 24.5 GW per hour.
The net figures are inclusive of purchases by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC).
The Sultanate's net electricity production by the end of August 2021 increased by 8% to touch 27,393.2 GW per hour as at the end of August 2021, compared to 25,357.1 GW per hour during the same period in the prior year.
Governorates of North and South Al Batinah and A'Dhahirah scored the highest increase by 6.9% with a net electricity production standing at 16,853.0 GW per hour as at the end of August 2021, compared to 15,770.8 GW per hour during the same period in 2020.
Net electricity production in the governorates of North and South A’Sharqyiah stood at 6,473.2 GW per hour, comprising a rise by 11% as at the end of August 202 compared to 5,833.0 GW per hour during the same period in 2020.
The Governorate of Dhofar also saw an increase in net electricity production by 2.4% to stand at 2,497.8 GW per hour as at the end of August 2021 compared to 2,438.8 GW per hour during the same period of the previous year.
The net electricity production in the Governorate of Muscat went up by 20.8% to reach 814.5 GW per hour as at the end of August 2021 compared to 674.2 GW per hour in August 2020.
In the Governorate of Al Wusta, the net electricity production reached 467.1 GW per hour as at the end of August 2021 compared to 332.6 GW per hour during the same period of 2020, comprising a rise by 40.4%.
The net electricity production in the Governorate of Musandam rose by 1.2% to stand at 287.5 GW per hour as at the end of August 2021 compared to 284.2 GW per hour in the same period in 2020.
The net electricity production in the governorate of A'Dhakiliyah remained unchanged at 23.5 GW per hour.
On other hand, the water production in the Governorate of Muscat rose by 0.3% to reach 118,469,700 cubic meters as the the end of July 2021, compared to the same period in 2020.
The total water production in other governorates by the end of July 2021 stood at 125,573,100 cubic meters, comprising a rise of 7.7%, compared to the end of July 2020.
Meanwhile, water production dropped in the Governorate of Dhofar by 2.6% to reach 35,627,200 cubic meters.
