Muscat, 16 Jan (ONA) --- The Sultanate of Oman’s production of natural gas (including imports) by the end of November 2021 reached 46.05 billion cubic meters compared to 42.186 billion cubic meters in November 2020, comprising a rise by 9.2%, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The increase is attributed mainly to the rise of associated gas by 26.2% to reach 8.499 billion cubic meters compared to 6.736 billion cubic meters by the end of November 2020 and the increase of non-associated gas (including imports) by 5.9% to reach 37.550 billion cubic meters compared to 35.449 billion cubic meters by the end of the same period in 2020.
Gas usage in electricity power plants (including Sultan Qaboos University and the Ministry of Defence) went up by 8.9% to reach 7.384 billion cubic meters by the end of November 2021 compared to 6.778 billion cubic meters by the end of November 2020.
The use of gas in industrial zones (including Oman Mining Company and Oman Cement Company) reached 201 million cubic meters by the end of November 2021 compared to 128 million cubic meters at the end of the same period in 2020, constituting a surge by 57.2%.
The amount of gas used in oil fields recorded a rise by 17% to reach 11.925 billion cubic meters compared to 10.189 billion cubic meters by the end of the same period in 2020. Meanwhile, the amount of gas used in industrial projects recorded a marginal increase by 5.8% to reach 26.539 billion cubic meters compared to 25.091 billion cubic meters by the end of November 2020.
