Muscat, 17 Jan (ONA)—The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has detected various instances of transgression and violation of the Land Transport Law (promulgated by Royal Decree No. 10/2016) and took legal action against the perpetrators.
The violations included exceeding truck axle weight, manipulating vehicle operation cards and practicing unlicensed land transport activities. Some of the offenders also surpassed foreign land transport procedures like exercising transportation between two points within the Sultanate of Oman without obtaining clearance to do so and staying in Oman beyond the 7-day period of stay without a license.
The breaches were discovered during inspection campaigns aimed at spreading awareness and encouraging commitment to the Land Transport Law and its executive regulation. The campaigns also seek to limit the use of foreign transport and encourage the use of national transport vehicles as a measure to ensure a safe and sustainable transport environment.
