Jumeirah Muscat Bay Hotel Opened to the Tune of RO 60 Million

Muscat, 4 Dec (ONA) --- A ceremony was held here today to mark the official inauguration of Jumeirah Muscat Bay, a 32,000 sqm seafront five-star hotel comprising 206 rooms, suites, multipurpose halls and a diving centre.

The RO 60 million resort was opened under the auspices of Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

The minister said, “The opening of the hotel caps the efforts made by various entities to enhance the tourism sector and provide a range of products that employ the unique aesthetic elements of Muscat Bay. The resort contributes to strengthening the concept of ‘spatial industry’, upgrading competitiveness of the tourism sector in line with the national strategy for tourism and promoting the goals of economic diversification.”

Al Marouqi pointed out that the establishment of such projects and their association with the total economy provides multiple benefits. This is due to the fact that the tourism sector is linked to service sectors and therefore its projects become beneficial to all, said Al Mahrouqi, adding that another hotel will be established in Muscat Bay in early 2024.

Hamoud bin Sultan Al Hosni, CEO of Muscat Bay, said that, since the start of the first phase until now, the resort contributed by providing hundreds of direct and indirect jobs. This is in addition to providing tourism, residential, commercial and entertainment facilities on a total area of about 300,000 sqm, said Al Hosni, noting that construction area occupies about 140,000 sqm, set up at a total cost of RO 185 million.

The second phase of the project, scheduled to be implemented in 2023, will comprise tourism and residential facilities of a modern style that is compatible with the requirements of the current stage, said Al Hosni, noting that the facilities are distributed over an area of 150,000 sqm and a construction area estimated at 100,000 sqm, with an estimated cost of RO 65 million. This phase will provide an additional number of direct and indirect jobs to be made available through contractors, service providers and hotel operators. It is envisaged as part of the objectives of the In-Country Value (ICV) programmes.

The opening of Jumeirah Muscat Bay hotel comes as part of celebrations marking Oman’s 52nd National Day. The hotel is located within the general plan of the integrated tourism complex of Muscat Bay. It is set up in partnership with Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) and Saraya Oman Holding Company. It spearheads the Jumeirah brand in Oman.
