National Competitiveness Committee Holds First Meeting for 2023
Muscat, 30 Apr (ONA) --- The National Competitiveness Committee (NCC) today held its 1st meeting for 2023 under the chairmanship of Dr. Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy.
The meeting agenda included several items which started off with review of the decisions made at the last meeting of the Committee, followed by a review of the work of the National Competitiveness Office (NCO) in the year 2022, as well as an update on Oman's performance in international indices that were issued since the last meeting of the NCC.
The meeting also discussed at length the Global Soft Power Index, which is one of the indices that the NCO follows.
The committee reviewed a proposal to organize a national workshop in cooperation with the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation to cover the Healthy Life Years (HLY), an international standard measure that goes into many international indicators including the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum.
The mandate of the National Competitiveness Office is to monitor the main international indices, in close cooperation with the relevant entities in Oman, in order to improve Oman’s performance in each of the indices, which will in turn increase Oman’s ranking regionally and globally.
