Commerce Ministry Undertakes Initiative to Issue Translators Professional Cards

Muscat, 18 Apr (ONA) --- Acting in cooperation with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion today launched an initiative to issue professional cards for translators.

The initiative stems from a strategic approach espoused by the ministry and the OCCI to keep pace with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The overall objective is to improve and regulate the business environment and enhance the competitiveness of specialized establishments.

The initiative deals with issuing professional cards to business owners. It is expected to regulate relevant data about the licence authorizing an establishment to practise the profession of translation, including the date of expiry of the license.

This was stated in a cooperation programme inked by the ministry and the OCCI. The programme was signed by Dr. Saleh Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, and Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The programme defines the OCCI’s role in devising a special programme to issue identification cards for translators, supply devices designed to print the cards and bear all related financial costs.

Once issued, the translators cards will enhance the efficiency of establishments specialized in the field of translation. This will help regulate the labour market and furnish a suitable environment for employment of jobseekers in such specializations. The initiative will play a vital role in improving various aspects of cooperation with relevant authorities.

The programme also allows the authorities concerned and members of the public to verify the validity of the card, its data, its license, the commercial register and contact information.

The cloud platform associated with the programme provides an organized database for professionals. It facilitates the process of search and classification and allows quick access to information.
