Oman Participates in GCC Commerce Ministers Meetings

Muscat, 2 May (ONA) --- The Sultanate of Oman took part in the GCC’s 66th ministerial meeting of the Trade Cooperation Committee, the 52nd meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee, the meeting of the ministerial committee for standardization affairs and the consultative meeting between GCC ministers of commerce and industry and chairmen of chambers of commerce, held in Doha, the State of Qatar.

Oman’s delegation in the meetings were headed by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

The commerce ministers discussed a spectrum of topics, namely the works of the small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship committee, as well as the work of the committees for internal trade and foreign trade, among other topics related to commerce.

They also touched on several matters related to industry, notably developments in drafting a unified definition for the “Gulf” national product, as well as the Unified GCC Strategy for Industrial Development.

Moreover, the meeting of the GCC ministerial committee for standardization affairs discussed the approval of several decisions which support the march of standardization efforts. The committee also approved 17 draft guidelines for several commodities and products in different sectors.

Further, the consultative meeting reviewed recommendations of GCC commerce chambers and took appropriate decisions regarding them.
