Oman, Belgium Ink MoU in Green Hydrogen

Antwerp, 4 Dec (ONA) --- As part of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium today signed Antwerp, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Belgian Hydrogen Council (BHC) and Hydrom Oman.

The MoU was signed on behalf of Oman’s government by Eng. Salim Nassir Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals (Board Chairman of Hydrom Oman), whilst Tom Hautekiet, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belgian Hydrogen Council inked the pact on behalf of the Belgian government.

The MoU seeks to boost cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium in developing the green hydrogen economy sector and supporting joint projects in this field.

It also aims to establish a platform for cooperation between industrial entities, universities, research institutes and policy makers in both countries.

Areas of cooperation include analyzing value chains for importing green hydrogen, developing plans for shipping infrastructure in the Sultanate of Oman, receiving shipments in Belgium, identifying and resolving legislative obstacles.

The MoU also lends support to joint research initiatives, technical training programmes and awareness campaigns to promote green hydrogen.

The two sides affirmed their commitment to join hands towards the realization of sustainability goals and the consolidation of economic partnership between the two countries in the field of clean energy.
