OCCI Digital Economy, AI Committee Holds First Meeting in 2025
Muscat, 26 Mar (ONA) --- The Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) today held its first meeting in 2025. The meeting was chaired by Eng. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Hosni, Head of the Committee.
The meeting reviewed the committee’s annual strategy, which focuses on five main topics: legislation on digital economy and artificial intelligence, digital economy, digital investment, digital skills and digital transitioning.
The committee reviewed related initiatives and subsidiary projects and the development of key performance indicators to monitor progress. It followed up a project to modernize economic activities to keep pace with technological developments, facilitate the registration and classification of companies in line with the goals of digital transition and economic diversification.
The committee endorsed specializations and names of Omani applications in artificial intelligence envisaged to be implemented during 2025.
The committee also discussed the Mobile World Congress scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China, from 18 to 20 June 2025. It also stressed the need to take part in COMEX 2025 under the banner of “Oman Technology Exhibition”, deemed a leading global platform for showcasing the latest innovations and developments in the fields of computers, communications and digital technology.
Then, the meeting looked into a proposed set of initiatives (due to be carried out in cooperation with the private sector and professional associations) to transfer knowledge and promote digital culture among community members and entrepreneurs.
