Oman-Iran Foreign Ministers Pledge Sustained Support for Efforts to Stop Escalation, Ease Tension in Region
Muscat, 14 oct (ONA) --- Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, today received Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the Foreign Ministry’s General Diwan in Muscat.
During the meeting, the two ministers stressed the depth of bilateral relations based on good neighbourliness, thanks to the two countries’ shared historical and cultural ties, cemented by their growing economic interests.
The two sides discussed a number of current issues and challenges in the region, notably the escalation resulting from the persistent Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, as well as Israel’s refusal to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories in compliance with United Nations resolutions and international law.
The meeting affirmed the two sides’ continuous support for efforts to stop escalation and ease tension in the region through dialogue and peaceful means, notably by harnessing diplomacy as a basic tool to resolve disputes and conflicts.
The two sides also voiced their commitment to boost ‘bilateral’ and ‘collective’ partnership with a view to developing cooperation in a manner that sustains security, stability and growth for the whole region.
