GCC Secretary General: Oman’s US-Yemen Mediation Reflects Its Role in Bolstering Regional Security

Riyadh, 7 May (ONA) —- Jassim Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), stated that the mediation efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman between the United States and the relevant authorities in the Republic of Yemen—which led to a ceasefire agreement between the two sides—exemplify Oman’s constructive and active role in supporting regional security and stability.

He emphasized that the GCC states, through their wise and balanced policies, continue to work toward all measures that promote security and peace at both the regional and international levels.

The GCC Secretary-General also reiterated the importance of de-escalation to safeguard regional security and stability, as well as to uphold the right of maritime navigation in accordance with international law and the provisions of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
