Regional Premiere of La Bohème Movie at ROHM Kicks off Puccini Celebration
Muscat, 14 Apr (ONA) --- The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) will host the regional premiere of the award-winning film La Bohème, directed by esteemed Italian filmmaker Mario Martone, on 23 April 2024.
The event has already sparked significant interest in Oman as it sold-out in less than a week since its announcement on the ROHM website.
This screening will mark the beginning of three weeks of activities leading up to the highly anticipated co-production of Puccini's timeless opera La Bohème, presented by ROHM in collaboration with Monte Carlo Opera on 16 and 18 May 2024. The film will be introduced by a word from the production team of RAI.
The screening of La Bohème represents a notable milestone for ROHM as it integrates film screenings into its educational activities, in line with its core mission of enhancing accessibility to the performing arts for a wider audience.
Martone's film has garnered international acclaim, earning the Grand Prix at the Golden Prague Festival for its innovative approach, blending film and stage performances seamlessly. An international sensation, the film was screened across the world including in Australia, Portugal, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, and Finland.
In a special message to ROHM audience, Mario Martone, the director, extends a warm invitation to all to discover La Bohème, envisioning its characters not as mere artifacts but as vibrant, living individuals captured through Puccini's extraordinary music.
The Movie Night at ROHM kick-starts three weeks of educational activities surrounding Puccini’s masterpiece, culminating in the opera's staging on the 16 and 18 May 2024.
The opera La Bohème, a co-production between Monte Carlo Opera and ROHM will welcome leading opera singers including Mariangela Sicilia, Liparit Avetisyan, Hasmik Torosyan and Riccardo Zanellato and will be accompanied by the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by the immensely talented, Leonardo Sini.
