Oman Participates in Seoul International Book Fair 2024
Seoul, 26 Jun (ONA) --- The Sultanate of Oman is taking part, as a distinguished guest, in the 66th edition of Seoul International Book Fair 2024. The event, which will continue until 30 June 2024.
The participation marks the 50th anniversary of Omani-Korean diplomatic relations.
Inspired by the architectural design that combines symbols of history and modern life, Oman’s pavilion at the book fair features a variety of cultural publications presented by government units, civil society institutions and tourism promotion establishments. The exhibits include samples of Arabic calligraphy and rare Omani manuscripts.
The pavilion enables visitors to learn about Omani customs and traditions, as well as cultural elements registered in the “UNESCO World List of Intangible Cultural Heritage”, including the folklore art of Al Bar’aa, the Omani Khanjar (dagger), tourist sites and other items, most of which are displayed via virtual reality (VR) technology and other types of visual presentations.
The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the book fair presents contributions by a number of governmental institutions, namely the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in addition some publications by civil society institutions.
The Omani pavilion also presents discussion panels that deal with various topics, including Omani literary narrative.
