“Radiance” Art Exhibition Launched at Royal Opera House Muscat

Muscat, 25 May (ONA) --- The second edition of the "Sutou" (Radiance) exhibition opened today at the Art Gallery of the House of Musical Arts in the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM).

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for Culture. The exhibition is an initiative by the Team of Omani Art Ambassadors.

The current edition features distinguished participation from 19 male and female artists from the team, presenting their diverse artworks that reflect the richness of the visual arts movement in Oman and highlight features of national identity with a contemporary spirit. The edition also hosts two international guest artists: Victor Kim from South Korea and Marco Tulio from Mexico, who present works reflecting cultural interaction and artistic exchange between Oman and the global art community.

Dr. Saud Al Hinai, head of the Team of Oman Art Ambassadors, stated in his opening speech that the exhibition represents a renewed creative platform reflecting the team's aspirations to highlight Omani artistic identity while engaging with global experiences, in harmony with Oman Vision 2040 which supports culture and arts as fundamental components of comprehensive development.

He noted that the exhibition marks a qualitative leap in the team's journey, bringing together multiple art schools ranging from realistic and expressive painting to Arabic calligraphy and its formations, along with sculpture art. This has given the exhibition visual and cultural richness reflecting the depth of individual experiences of team members who are distinguished by their unique styles and artistic experiences.

He added that through this exhibition, the Omani Art Ambassadors team seeks to convey a civilized artistic message expressing Oman's cultural richness and enhancing the status of Omani artists at regional and international levels, while maintaining authenticity and openness to global creativity.

Visual artist Samia Al Gharibi emphasized that her participation in the second edition of "Sutou" (Radiance) is a special artistic experience, where she presents four artworks featuring the "Burqa" inspired by Omani folk heritage and environment to highlight aspects of Omani cultural identity, using diverse materials and artistic techniques that blend authenticity with modernity. She noted that the exhibition provides an important space for creativity and expression, and a window to introduce the public to the aesthetics of Omani heritage through the lens of contemporary art.

Al Gharibi's paintings in the exhibition highlighted elements from Omani heritage, such as traditional ornaments and jewelry associated with Omani women across generations, along with poetic verses woven into the burqa designs to reflect the artworks' themes and enhance their artistic message. The color blending and interplay significantly enriched the visual dimension of the works and conveyed deeper feelings about their content.

Artist Sulaiman Al Sabahi explained that his participation in the second edition of "Sutou" (Radiance) came with encouragement from team members. He views the exhibition as carrying a set of expressive artistic and cultural messages amid participation from artists who express their art and creativity through their unique artistic styles.

On his turn, Mexican artist Marco Tulio said his participation in the second edition of "Sutou" (Radiance) with the Team of Omani Art Ambassadors is a rich artistic and cultural experience, praising the methods and rich creative experiences of participating Omani artists. He is presenting a collection of works centered around nature's wonders, biology and spirituality, inspired by natural symbols and formulated in an expressive style he calls "Natural Symbols," which relies on color interplay to convey visions with deep spiritual character, drawing its patterns from nature's treasures and hidden aesthetics.

South Korean artist Victor Kim sees this experience as an important opportunity for cultural and artistic communication between the Middle East and Far East, to exchange creative visions with artists from diverse backgrounds and styles. He confirmed that his participation represents an inspiring milestone in his artistic career, where he presents a collection of his realistic works characterized by elements of mystery, reflecting unique characteristics of people and life situations he chooses to portray. He clarified that these works don't just seek to present precise visual images, but aim to explore what lies beyond appearances and express deep feelings and ideas embedded in details of daily life.

Artist Nada Al Ruwaishdi mentioned that her participation in the second edition of "Sutou" (Radiance) is valuable as it allows her to express herself through presented works without being restricted to a specific theme. It's also a precious opportunity to get to know artists closely and delve into their experiences and artistic interactions, as well as a chance to introduce society to Omani artists and their artworks.

Khalil Al Kalbani explained that the second edition of "Sutou" (Radiance) crowns an eventful artistic and cultural journey for the Team of Omani Art Ambassadors, which the team has presented in various events both inside Oman and abroad. He is participating in this edition with 10 wood sculpting works where he employed diverse artistic concepts through research and deep exploration of various types and forms of Omani wood, varying in terms of wood block sizes and colors. He noted that using Omani wood in artworks enhances and confirms the concept of sustainability, which the Team of Omani Art Ambassadors seeks to enable through its various participations.

It's worth mentioning that "Sutou" (Radiance) represents a pioneering artistic platform aiming to support Omani creatives and showcase their works, while contributing to establishing Oman's position on the regional and international visual arts map.
