Muscat, Jan 4  (ONA) ----- The 7th Arabian Veteran Tennis Championship was opened today under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Saeedi, Minister of Legal Affairs.
 
    The championship, which is being held from 4 to 8 January at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, is hosted by the Sultanate, under the supervision of the Arab Seniors Tennis Union (ASTU), and in cooperation with the Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA).
 
   Sheikh Rashad bin Ahmed Al-Hinai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports Affairs stressed the importance of hosting the championship, with the participation of more than 150 players from 14 countries, in promoting sports tourism. He also said that this type of hosting is an addition to the Sultanate to enhance the tourism and economic aspects
 
        On his turn, Majeed Al-Asfoor, Chairman of the Organizing Committee said that the championship is an opportunity for the world to learn about the progress made by the Sultanate in various areas of life, as well as highlighting the sporting and youth role in the modern Renaissance of Oman.
